Phivos Mylonas, MSc (Computer Science), is currently a Researcher by the Image, Video and Multimedia Laboratory, School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Department of Computer Science of the National Technical University of Athens, Greece. He obtained his Diploma in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) in 2001, his Master of Science in Advanced Information Systems from the National & Kapodestrian University of Athens (UoA) in 2003 and is currently pursuing his Ph.D. degree at the former University. His research interests lie in the areas of content-based information retrieval, visual context representation and analysis, knowledge-assisted multimedia analysis, issues related to personalization and user profiling and fuzzy ontological knowledge. He has published 5 international journals and book chapters, he is the author of 16 papers in international conferences and workshops and a reviewer for Multimedia Tools and Applications and IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems for Video Technology journals. He is an IEEE member since 1999, an ACM member since 2001, a member of the Technical Chamber of Greece since 2001 and a member of the Hellenic Association of Mechanical & Electrical Engineers since 2002.

Dr. Manolis Wallace graduated from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) in 2001 having majored in Electrical and Computer Engineering and obtained the Ph.D. degree for his thesis on intelligent knowledge based systems in uncertain environments from the same university in 2005. He is currently an assistant professor of computer science and the chair of the computer science department at the University of Indianapolis, Athens Campus while at the same time he is serving his military service in the Greek Navy working on secure network communications. His research interests include knowledge engineering, information systems, personalization, data mining, and applications of technology in education, while his main expertise is in the representation and handling of uncertainty. He has authored more than 40 refereed papers in these fields. Wallace is the organizing committee chair of the 3rd IFIP Conference on Artificial Intelligence Applications & Innovations, an Associate Editor of the International Journal of Fuzzy Systems, the organizer or co-organizer of 3 conference special sessions, the editor or co-editor of 3 journal special issues, a reviewer for 6 IEEE Transactions and 8 other journals and a program committee member of a number of conferences. He is an IEEE member, as well as a member of the Technical Chamber of Greece and of the Hellenic Association of Mechanical & Electrical Engineers.

Dr. Marios Angelides is Professor of Computing in the School of Information Systems, Computing and Mathematics at Brunel University. He holds a BSc in Computing and a PhD in Information Systems both from the London School of Economics, where he begun his academic career as lecturer in information systems. He is a chartered fellow of the British Computer Society and a member of the ACM and the IEEE Computer Society. He has been researching multimedia for over 15 years and the application of MPEG standards for the last 6 and he has published extensively his work in top tier journals such as ACM Multimedia Systems, ACM Personal and Ubiquitous Computing, Multimedia Tools and Applications, IEEE Multimedia, the Computer Journal, Data and Knowledge Engineering, Decision Support Systems, Information and Management. In the last three years, he guest-edited for IEEE Multimedia, Multimedia Tools and Applications and the Computer Journal. He currently serves on the editorial board of several journals including Multimedia Tools and Applications for which he has been an editorial board member since it begun publication.
